Sometimes I feel like Animal Collective is the golf of our generation. At least in Austin, they are something that you can talk about with literally anybody . Awkward silence in the elevator? So….that new Animal Collective CD is coming out. Word? Word. Yeah, that should be good. I saw them once–so high.

I talk about Animal Collective my fair share, but it is mostly things internet rumors ABOUT Animal Collective, my first time really listening to them was the other day on the Letterman show and it was pretty average. They had some weird dancing. So there was that.

Anyway, listen to this Dâm-Funk remix of AC’s song “Summer Clothes”. The last time I saw the internet so ecstatic about a remix it was when Justice remixed those MGMT buttholes’ song…you know the one with all the dumb flutes. Sexface and I are each building one of these things. They’re called arduinomes (clones of the impressively-designed and very teutonic Monome This is just a demo of one of the many things the arduinome can do. We don’t even completely understand what it can do. But we’re getting there. Look out, the game. We are about to GET YOU. As I understand it, people usually make some really detailed logs of their arduinome assembly processes, but we don’t really have the presence of mind to take pictures. But I can tell you for a fact 1) soldering is a skill 2) Fry’s Electronics is a kingdom of sadness which nevertheless sells a lot of the antiquated equipment we used in high school geology class 3) electronics components are cool. Also, North Austin is where the real weirdness is poppin’ off.
